Air Pollution Management

Turning satellite and enterprise data into actionable intelligence for air-pollution control.

A comprehensive air-quality analytics application was developed for a Union Territory of India, to support proactive monitoring and management of urban air pollution. The solution integrates satellite-derived data with in-situ sensor feeds into a unified regional dashboard, enabling continuous tracking, spatial analysis, and data-driven decision-making for clean air initiatives.

Air Pollution Management

The National Clean Air Program of India and many such initiatives have been able to draw the urgent attention of authorities and people towards the necessity to have clean ambient air for all. Chandigarh Administration has been proactively engaged in dealing with air quality levels that have been fluctuating over the past few years. To monitor and manage it better, a comprehensive regional dashboard was to be created ingesting data from satellite and in-situ sensors, with Sparrow Analytics playing the lead role in setting up of this regional dashboard.

● For a wider geographic reach, Satellite Data from Air Quality monitoring platforms was ingested and disseminated.

● Pollutants that were to be monitored continually were identified.

● Data from in-situ sensors setup by the Department were used for ground-truthing of satellite data.

● A regional map of air pollutants was created with neighboring districts of Panjab & Haryana also included.

● Wind patterns were included in the assessment, so as to make it easier for knowing the direction of pumas of pollutants from point sources, or otherwise.

● Chandigarh Administration has been able to predict ahead of time for any spikes in the pollution levels.

● Point sources contributing to exceedance of air quality levels in Chandigarh were detected.

● Regional context of Air Quality over Chandigarh could now be extracted by looking at wind patterns and pollutant levels over neighboring districts.
